Back Ache

Pain in the low back can be a result of conditions affecting the bony lumbar spine, discs between the vertebrae, ligaments around the spine and discs, spinal cord and nerves, muscles of the low back, internal organs of the pelvis and abdomen, and the skin covering the lumbar area.&nbsp;<br /> An irritation or problem with any of these structures can cause lower back pain and/or pain that radiates or is referred to other parts of the body. Pain from resultant lower back muscle spasms can be severe, and pain from a number of syndromes can become chronic

Remedies

AGASTHYA LEHYAM INGREDIENTS :

Thymol seeds(Telugu-Vamu,Hindi-Ajwain)    : 100 gm
Candy Sugar powder                                     : 100 gm
Cow's ghee                                                    : 100 gm


METHOD OF PREPARATION :

STEP 1    :- Fry Thymol seeds and make fine powder and sieve it.
STEP 2    :- Add candy sugar powder and mix uniformly.
STEP 3    :- Boil ghee till it melts completely, remove it from the stove add the above mixture to the ghee spoon by spoon and stir it well.
STEP 4    :- After the paste gets cooled, store it in a glass bottle.

DOSAGE :

Children    : 1/2 spoon.
Adults        : 1 spoon - 2 times a day after meals.

INGREDIENTS :

Badam (Almonds)          : 200 gm
Khus Khus                     : 500 gm
Candy Sugar powder    : 1 tea spoon    

METHOD OF PREPARATION :

STEP 1    :- Soak Badam (Almonds) with hot water to the level of badam overnight.
STEP 2    :- Khus Khus( Telugu: Gasagasalu, English: Poppy seeds ) Fry lightly and make powder Candy Sugar powder (sieved ) to taste.
STEP 3    :- Mix both the above ingredients and store in a bottle.

Dosage 


2 spoons morning and evening with hot milk

INGREDIENTS :

White rice husk : 1 kg (after sieving)
Old jaggery : 1 kg
Ghee : 1 kg

METHOD OF PREPARATION AND USAGE :

STEP 1 :- Pound the above three contents
STEP 2 :- make small sized pills / tablets (weiging around 10 gm each).
STEP 3 :- Cool them in shade and store in a bottle.

Usage : 

Take one pill morning and evening 2 hours before meals/breakfast.

INGREDIENTS :

Babul tree bark : 100 gm

METHOD OF PREPARATION :

STEP 1 :- Fry the Babul tree bark in cow's ghee.
STEP 2 :- Dry and make powder.
STEP 3 :- Add candy sugar 100 gm.
STEP 4 :- Store the powder in glass bottle.

Dosage : 

1 spoon morning and evening along with one cup milk.

Add Arka leaves to water along with some Turmeric (one or two spoons) and steam it. Dip one cotton cloth, squeeze and apply it on the affected part. Massage on back with palm.

FOOD PRECAUTIONS FOR EARLY RECOVERY FROM PAINS :

- Take Old rice, wheat flour, wheat roti, barley flour, old tur dal (kandi pappu).
- Snake gourd (Potlakaaya), Green gourd (Beera kaaya), Tender Brinjals (Leta Vankaya), Tender Drumsticks (Munakkaya) , Garlic, Onion, Koyya Totakura, Ponnagantikura.
- Fruits like Lemon, Pomogranate, Grapes, Dates.
- Pickles of Big Lemon (Dabbakaya), Tamarind, Amla can be used..
- Cow's milk and cow's butter milk is very good.

GENERAL GUIDELINES FOR BACKACHE :

- Boil ten tulsi leaves in one cup of water until the syrup is reduced to half a cup. Add salt to it after cooling. Take this mixture daily. For severe backache, take it twice a day.
- Two or three cloves of garlic should be taken every morning. An oil prepared form garlic and rubbed on the back will give a good result in backache.
- A dose of powdered dry ginger (sonth), sweet soda and salt, if consumed with hot milk or water, reduses backache.
- Keep yourself warm and eat hot items.
- While sleeping, sleep on a firm mattress. Avoid sleeping face down.
- Do some regular exercises. Increase the number of times as your strength increases.
- Do not work in a single place with out moving.
- Attend to the natural calls immediately without postponement.
- Avoid drinking too hot or too cold drinks.
- Apply Voma Tailam in warm condition to the back. Massage each vertebra with thumbs with left/right movement. Massage clockwise and anti clockwise around each vertebra of back bone.
